Morgan Smith
Graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University and Mannes College of Music in New York City, Morgan made his debut as a Seattle Opera young artist (1999-2000) in 2001. He made his professional debut with the company as Donald on stage in Billy Budd. Smith is known as a Seattle favorite and has played the roles in 12 different productions that include Don Giovanni, Silvio in I Pagliacci (title role), Riccardo I Puritani, Peter Niles Mourning Becomes Electra in the musical, and also the role of Count Alamaviva, in Le nozze di Figaro. An established performer at the concert stage, Mr. Smith made his Dallas Symphony debut with Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and made his debut as a member of the San Antonio Symphony for the North American premiere of Vier Praludien and Ernste Gesange, Detlef Glanert's orchestral version of the adored work by Brahms. The other repertoire for concerts includes Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; the Requiems composed by Brahms, Faure, Mozart and Durufle; the Mass in C Minor from Mozart and the Mass that is in G Minor composed by Vaughan Williams; Bach's B Minor Mass, numerous Cantatas as well as Weihnachts Oratorium; Handel's Messiah as well as L'Allegro and the il Penseroso and il Moderato as well as Haydn's The Creation and Lord Nelson Mass.
